Visit Antwerp (Sinjorenstad)

Half day visit to Antwerp

If you travel by car you may try some of the free available car parks but I recommend you to go for the public car parks in the city centre. These parkings are close to the interesting places to visit:
Brabo: Kammenstraat 2
Groenplaats: Groenplaats
Rubens: Lombardenvest 24-28
Meir: Eiermarkt 33

A better option is to travel by train with arrival at the beautiful central station (aka Railway Cathedral).

Here are some suggestions of iconic places for a half day visit:

Meir: het Rubenshuis

Grote Markt: Stadhuis, Brabo statue, Café Den Engel (get a taste of ‘een bolleke‘)

Hoogstraat: Frituur No. 1 , Pelgrimstraat: De Pelgrom (museum closed since COVID crisis)

Handschoenmarkt: Onze-Lieve-Vrouwkathedraal

Groenplaats (wikipedia): Rubens statue, Hilton hotel

Het Steen (Antwerp oldest building)

In Rubens’ footsteps” is one of the many itinaries of the city walks that will get you along these unique places.

Other areas to visit are the Zurenborg neighbourghood (like the Cogels-Osylei, Draakplaats and Dageraadplaats) and the Diamond district (Antwerp is the capital of worldwide diamond trade for more than 500 years) the MAS Museum.
